October 8th 2015, Bangkok
On October 6th an immigration raid was conducted on one of the buildings occupied by Christian Asylum Seekers in Bangkok. About 20 Christians were arrested and detained by the police. What the most disturbing is the fact that they were not only regarded as illegal immigrants but the police also charged them with illegally entering the country without a passport.
Due to the language barrier and different cultures and ethnicity, these individuals would have never found out what they were being charged with and it would have become almost impossible for them to find a way out of this. They were supposed to be taken straight to jail for committing a serious crime.
However, a representative of the Farrukh Saif Foundation “Mr. Shahzad Bhatti” brought this point into the attention of the judge. He produced the passports of those Pakistanis which contained the Thai visa and immigration´s arrival stamp. The judge was convinced that there had been an error. He found out that These Pakistanis are illegal immigrants but did not commit the crime of entering Thailand through an illegal way.
Mr. Farrukh Harrison Saif who had promised to stand next to his Pakistani Christian brothers and sisters has once again proved to be true to his words. Farrukh Saif Foundation paid the fine for 6 Pakistani Christians today; they will now be transferred to the Immigration Detention Center (IDC). This wouldn’t have been possible with the former charges and without the help of Farrukh Saif Foundation.
Soon, Farrukh Saif Foundation would pay the fines for more people so that they too may be transferred to IDC. After that Mr. Harrison’s team will put in all their efforts to pay for the bail of as many Christians as they can. “No matter what the circumstances are I will not give up, instead I will stand with my brothers and sisters till my last breath”; says Mr. Farrukh Harrison Saif.
