Emergency Rescue Committee- Eight converted Christians of Bushehr city in Iran were released on bail but it’s a strong apprehension that they could face 15 years jail sentence in future.

These Christians were charged with “ A threat to the National Security” and propaganda against the Iranian system. Earlier this month on 1st of July 2019, during the home church meeting, they all were arrested.

This incident took place on the morning of 1st July around 9:00 AM when the ministry of Intelligence raided in the house where these Christians were in prayer.

The officers of MOIS confiscated Bible, Christian material, crosses, and all such belongings showed the Christian signs as well as laptops, phones, and their Identity cards. Five of these arrested persons happen to be the members of one family. Sam Khosravi, 36, and his wife Maryam Falahi, 35, Sam’s brother Sasan, 35, and his wife Marjan Falahi, 33, Sam and Sasan’s mother, Khatoon Fatolahzadeh, 61; Pooriya Peyma, 27, and his wife Fatemeh Talebi, 27 and Habib Heydari 38.

However, Khatoon Fatolahzadeh was released on the same day due to her age and medical condition but the rest of others were dealt harshly by the officials of the Ministry of Intelligence. Even their lawyers were denied to have access to these Christians.

In association with this incident, many of the local Christians were summoned for investigation, however, they have released afterward but it’s not sure yet that either they would be charged after the completion of the investigation and court directions.

Although all the eight persons were released on bail on 16th and 17th of July, 2019, there is a strong apprehension that as Iran is dealing this issue as a threat to National security and propaganda against the Iranian System, these people can face the long jail.

Since 2019, the Iranian Government has arrested 34 people regarding the Conversion from Islam to Christianity.

We would request you all to keep praying for the Iranian Christians.
