A pastor and seven others, who were preparing the relief packets for the poor, were assaulted by police in India.

Pastor Ramesh Kumar, along with Seven other Christians, was preparing the Aid Packets for distribution amongst the poor Christians in Kakrahia Village near Kotiya Kaushambi District, Uttar Pradesh, when police arrested Pastor and four others.

While Police alleged them for gathering people for worship amid Coronavirus lockdown. However, Police were reportedly acting on a complaint by Aneet Shukla, Manoj Dwivedi, and Abhishek Dwivedi, the local Hindu leaders.

Pastor Kumar told the Morning Star News, “Before they detained us, the policemen used vulgar language and beat me, Rajendra and Rakesh with clubs,” he furtherly added. “Rakesh sustained an injury on his hand and developed swelling because of the beating.”

It is not the only incident of such type occurred in India, ever since Narendra Modi become the Prime Minister of India, Christians and other religious minorities have faced serious discrimination and Persecution.

Since 2014, we have observed that India is turning into an Extreme Hindu state. Recently, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom urged the U.S. State Department to add India as a Country of Particular Concern to its list of nations with poor records of protecting religious freedom. Although Pastor Kumar and others were released with the intervention of the chief of the Village, this is our apprehension that in the coming years Christian Persecution will be on its rise in India.

We call on the International Community, the Churches, and especially the Individuals to stand together with their Persecuted brethren in Islamic Countries. Our Organization is Aiding and defending the Persecuted Christians in the Islamic world. Your small support can save one life, stand with us to save your brethren.
